Male actors required for Our House

Seaton Delaval Arts Centre are delighted to be producing the modern Madness hit musical Our House this June. The uplifting, energetic musical comedy is inspired by and full of all the best Madness hits including: It Must be Love, House of Fun, Baggy Trousers, Driving in my Car and of course Our House.

On the night of his sixteenth birthday, Jo takes Sarah, the girl of his dreams, out on their first date. In an effort to impress her with bravado, he breaks into a building site overlooking his home on Casey Street. When the police arrive, he faces a life changing decision; does he stay and own up like an honest man, or make his escape and go on the run? Joe’s world splits in two and in a “sliding doors” moment two very different paths unfold before him.

Open Auditions have been held for the show with ensemble and most principal roles cast. We are however looking for three male actors to complete the cast.

Joe’s Dad
Playing age 35+. Central to the plot and appears mostly as a ghostly figure (think narrator in Blood Brothers). A man of fun and spirit who married the right woman but took the wrong path in life, died as a result, and is desperate for his son not to repeat the pattern.

Mr Pressman
Playing age 35. Smiling, charming, superficially likeable but smarmy (think Piers Morgan). Middle-aged and MD of a large company.

Lewis
Playing age around 16. One of Joe’s best mates. Delivers quite a lot of the comedy lines in partnership with his mate Emmo. A sensitive lad with a good understanding of morals.

The show takes places from Wednesday 26th till Saturday 29th June 2019. Rehearsals take place on Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Please contact gareth.miller@seatondelavalartscentre.com for a informal chat if you are interested in any of these roles.
