In the summer of 2007 a group of volunteers saved a rundown Salvation Army Hall which within a staggering 12 weeks was refurbished and reborn into a multipurpose arts venue. With the help of the entire cast and chorus of Aladdin carrying bricks, rubble and bits of timber whilst rehearsing and singing songs, plus amazing support from the local community and generous companies the venue was ready for the opening performance of Aladdin by the Seaton Delaval Pantomime Society in the December.
10 year’s later through a vast amount of changes and challenges, our venue continues to be a thriving community asset presenting a range of shows and events for all to enjoy. The whole operation is still ran entirely by volunteers, for the love of the arts. We’ve seen some spectacular performances take place over the years from live music to comedy, dance and drama all of which have been enjoyed by over 20,000 audience members.
Join us for a night of celebration as we mark our 10th Anniversary with a spectacular Gala Dinner. Including a drinks reception, delicious three course meal, speeches and live entertainment, we invite all our patrons, supporters, volunteers and friends to help us celebrate this milestone in style with a night to remember! Black Tie dress code with carriages at 11pm.
Tickets are available only via the Box Office on 0191 237 5460 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
We were delighted to be one of nine partner venues in the #REACH project which ran from April 2014 to December 2016 and toured nine high-quality, contemporary theatre productions to eight venues across the north east including ours.
We welcomed some fantastic shows, grew our audience tenfold and our volunteers gained so many new skills and knowledge along with a wide network of other venue staff to share idea’s and ask advice. All of this was made possible by Arts Council England funding and the amazing #REACH team from ARC Stockton and DepArts. A huge thank you to everyone who made the project possible. We’ve already seen a lasting legacy with one contemporary show already on sale and more to be booked throughout the year.
Our brand new What’s On brochure for our 2017 Winter to Spring season has arrived! It’s packed with all the shows and events coming up at our venue over the next few months.
Highlights include brand new play Ventoux by 2Magpies Theatre telling the gripping story of the dramatic battle between Lance Armstrong and Marco Pantani in the Tour de France 2000 on Mont Ventoux. North East favourites The Caffreys return along with The Baldy Holly Band and a hillarious comedy triple bill with three plays in one night by Baroque Theatre Company.
2017 is also a very special year for us as we continue to celebrate 10 years of our venue opening.
Hard copies are available at the Arts Centre and in local shops around Seaton Delaval including the Lakes and Dales Co-Op.
